about the composite materials course

Composites are used in a variety of different fields, from aircrafts and military applications, to construction and civil infrastructure. You may be most familiar with composite use in consumer products such as golf clubs, tennis rackets, mobile campers, or surf boards. To work in these industries, you need to understand the materials. This workshop is a great introduction to composite materials.

Prerequisites
Completion of enrollment documents. Students must be at least 15 years of age.

Certifications

If you successfully complete a program under 50 hours, we can issue a certificate for $15.

meet your instructor

Anita E. Mizusawa, Ph.D

Anita E. Mizusawa, Ph.D

Dr. Anita Mizusawa is currently a Senior Field Technical Specialist at Tencate Advanced Composites specializing in prepregs, adhesives and other advanced materials.  Anita has a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Rice University. She has worked in materials for over thirty years at materials companies like The Dow Chemical Company (Resins) and The Dexter Corporation (Adhesives). She has worked in research and development, operations, and process engineering. She received the Coffin Award for formulating an aerospace adhesive, EA9394, that is used throughout the aerospace and space industry. She currently provides technical support to companies using composite materials in the San Diego and Los Angeles areas.
