work skills & job training

MiraCosta College offers a wide selection of not-for-credit certificated programs for job training. Most of these programs are funded for veterans, military spouses, or unemployed. Just out of high school and not sure what you want to do? Find FAST job training programs that get you employed in careers that you will enjoy! Have a criminal record? Let’s talk - some of our programs may be a perfect fit to help you succeed along a satisfying career path, and we’ll help you land that first job!

Our programs are offered throughout the year and admissions into them typically only require a high school diploma or GED. If you are eager to take one of our training programs, we are eager to have you! Simply follow the instructions below.

1 Attend a Free Information Session

We offer FREE information sessions for many of our Job Training Programs so that you can learn all about the content, pre requisites, course expectations, and student learning outcomes for your chosen program. It is also an excellent opportunity to meet the instructor and ask all of your questions. Please view the schedule to find out the times and dates for upcoming Information Sessions.

2 Register & Submit Application

It is important for us to keep excellent records for participants of our job training programs so that we can monitor your progress through your training program and also help you find a job! We do this by having you fill out an application using a software program called APRICOT. It will only take about 10 minutes to complete the form, and we never give out your information. Please go to our online application form now to begin your registration process for any of our job training programs.

3 Pre-Course Assessments

Because it is our intent to do whatever we can to help you succeed, many of our job training programs require a math and reading comprehension assessment prior to the start of the class. This is done so that we can determine if we need to offer you FREE remedial assistance before you dive into the course and/or FREE tutoring along the way. Many of the courses we offer require at least 10th grade math and reading skills and it is not uncommon for our participant to need a review prior to or during the course.
